Access to IPRs

7,000 IPRs are available for purchase or licensing as a result of the research by universites, technology centers and companies within Otaniemi.

The two main sources of IPRs in Otaniemi are Aalto University and VTT Technical Research Center of Finland.

A third IPR source is the Innovation Mill that enables Finnish and international companies that set up operations in Finland to access the 5,000 non-core Nokia IPRs as well as public funding to commercialize those IPRs.

The Innovation Mill IPRs include the following sectors: near field communications (NFC), environmental and energy-related, health care and well being applications, mobile security and future Internet services.
