Otaniemi Technology Hub’s ability to sustain the innovative drive and expertise comes from the fact that it’s Universities (Aalto University, Laurea University of Applied Science) produce new talented workforce and expertise for the companies and research organizations in Finland. Since 1948, when the Helsinki University of Science and Technology (now known as Aalto University School of Science and Technology) moved to Otaniemi, the area has evolved in to the two time EU awarded hot spot of innovation. Today 16000 students in the Otaniemi Campus educate themselves in various fields such as Engineering, Business Administration, Social Services and Nursing. The Universities offer several Bachelor, Master, Doctoral and Postdoctoral programs in English and Finnish in various fields of education. The future of the Technology Hub is exiting as the Aalto university merger brings new possibilities to the field of education, science and technology.
In Otaniemi learning never stops with Aalto University Professional Development (Aalto Pro) offers a wide range of continuing education programmes. Aalto Pro is also a major contributor to internationally recognized learning and research programmes. The Area’s research organizations also offer courses for professionals. Examples include courses in computing for scientists run by the CSC (Finnish IT Center for Science), MIKES (Centre for Metrology and Accreditation) as well as training courses by Spinno Entreprise Center.

Otaniemi is host to several key educational institutions, including
Aalto University, a facility which is the first to incorporate, business, design and economics under the one roof, paving the way for innovative collaboration amongst students from different backgrounds. Aalto Universityy, a merger of three universities namely the Helsinki University of Technology, the Helsinki School of Economics and the University of Art and Design Helsinki took place in Jannuary 2010. The former universities do continue to exist as subunits or Schools within the university. Aalto University is named in honor of the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto.
Innovative and different study methods and enviorments
Aalto University's Design Factory is a unique learning space which allows students to utilize their creativity. Design Factory allows students to develop and test products on a practical level and furthermore, allows students to turn conceptual theories into practical products. Companies partner and play an active part in helping develop students learning and research capabilities. Design Factory is also home to the Aalto Entrepreneurship Society. A group formed of students who aim to enhance and promote the idea that entrepreneurship is an alternative yet viable career in Finland. Helsinki University of Technology, Helsinki School of Economics and University of Art and Design Helsinki are officially merged.
