Established in 2010, the Aalto University is a new university with centuries of experience. The Aalto University is a created from the merger of three Finnish universities: The Helsinki School of Economics, Helsinki University of Technology and The University of Art and Design Helsinki. The three schools of the Aalto University - the School of Economics, the School of Art and Design and the School of Science and Technology are all leading and renowned institutions in their respective fields and in their own right. Aalto University carries out research on three campuses, 36 departments and several separate research institutes.
The combination of three universities opens up new possibilities for strong multi-disciplinary education and research. The new university's ambitious goal is to be one of the leading institutions in the world in terms of research and education in its own specialized disciplines.

AALTO UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
The Aalto University School of Science and Technology is based in Otaniemi Technology Hub in Espoo, on a campus designed by Alvar Aalto. Otaniemi has the highest concentration of high technology companies and research organizations in Northern Europe. A unique combination of education, study and business is all densely packed into this small area. Aalto Design Factory, Aalto Venture Park and Otaniemi International Innovation Centre are part of the Aalto university’s Otaniemi campus.
Established in 1849, the Aalto University School of Science and Technology - formerly Helsinki University of Technology - is an internationally acknowledged university of technology with first-rate education and research that notably promotes advances in science and technology. The four faculties of the School have altogether 15 000 students pursuing either a Master of Science in technology, architecture or landscape architecture or a doctorate. In 2008, the School awarded 1 133 Masters of Science and 142 doctorates. The School accounts for approximately 42 % of the master's degrees and 60 % of the doctorates awarded in the field of technology in Finland. Worldwide, there are approximately 40 000 alumni educated by the School. In 2008, the School had 1 200 international students. In 2008, the School had a budget of EUR 243 million. The School has 3 300 staff members, 250 of which are professors.

INTERNATIONAL DESIGN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (IDBM)
The International Design Business Management program (IDBM) is a joint teaching and research platform of the Aalto University School of Economics, the School of Art and Design and Science and the School of Science and Technology. The Aalto University is a major Nordic research and teaching institution, created through the merger of the Helsinki School of Economics, the University of Art and Design Helsinki, and the Helsinki University of Technology. The program made the list of the 2009 World’s best design programs in Businessweek Design programs list. ( BusinessWeek.com)
The purpose of the IDBM program is to develop world-class expertise in global design business management through multidisciplinary research and learning that cuts across the areas of business, design and technology. The IDBM program aims to train skilled professionals for key roles in global design business. The program emphasizes the importance of design as a competitive factor, linked with state-of-the-art technology and business models.
Arising from the needs of the industry, this program gives future marketers, engineering experts and designers an opportunity to practice important interpersonal skills through cooperative industry projects and specialized courses. The program builds on the business, design or technology skills and competence achieved at the bachelor’s level, enabling students to make full use of their own potential as members of interdisciplinary teams, often within project-based work.
